DIY: Bunny Cakes
Start by mixing one cake using your favorite recipe or boxed cake mix. Grease and flour two round cake pans. Divide the batter between the two pans (this will make one regular sized cake).
After the cake has baked and cooled, removed each round cake carefully from its pan. Next, cut each of the two cakes in half so that you have 4 half circles.
Frost the flat side of one of the half circles and then match it up with the flat side of another half circle of cake to make the body of the bunny. Repeat with the other two half circles of cake.
Place the bunny bodies on a large platter and frost. I usually frost the white bunny first (the boy bunny) then I add red food coloring to the remaining frosting for the girl bunny.
Cut some bunny ears out of thick paper or cardstock (I used two layers for mine) and push them into the cake where you think the ears should go.
Add eyes, a nose, and a mouth using jelly beans and frosting. If you don't have a frosting tip, use a plastic sandwich baggie with a tiny hole cut in it.
Don't forget to add some marshmallow tails!
Garnish with edible Easter grass and more jelly beans or speckled egg candies.
Enjoy! And don't forget to make fun of whichever family member gets stuck with the bunny butt.
