Mini DIY: Sparkly Bib Necklace

You need:
wide ribbon
felt
embroidery floss
rhinestones or sequins
scissors
small sewing needle

Lay out your felt and trace a small bowl with a white dressmaking pencil. Cut the circle in half so that you have two matching half circles.

Arrange your rhinestones and/or sequins in a pleasing pattern on one half circle of felt. Once you are satisfied, glue the rhinestones on with fabric glue. My rhinestones had holes for sewing and were a bit heavy to be held on by glue alone, so I stitched them on using all 6 strands of my embroidery floss. You can skip the glue if you like — it's nice because it holds your rhinestones in place while you sew. Alternatively, you might skip the sewing!

Next, take 2 - 25" pieces of wide ribbon and sew them onto your felt (see photo below for placement).

Lastly, use a running stitch to sew the second half circle of felt onto the back of the first (covering up the back of your stitches and making your necklace more sturdy).

Tie the necklace around your neck and you've got an instant fashion statement!

Tip: Change up the look by trying different colors or different kinds of rhinestones and sequins.

If you make one of these, leave me a comment. I'd love to see it!
