Style School update

Hope you all are having a great Saturday. I just wanted to stop by to share a few of my latest Style School projects.

I absolutely adore this makeup bag and couldn't believe how easy it is to make a zippered pouch from thick felt like this (because you don't have to line it). This particular pouch, however, was not easy. Elsie's sample had a flap but no zipper. Typical me, I had to be difficult and add a zipper. But I also wanted a flap. How the heck do you do that anyway? Very carefully, it turns out. I think I figured it out but WOULD NOT recommend sewing through 3 thick sheets of felt at one time. The stitching was messy but I went over it twice so it's nice and sturdy. And all said and done, the stitching really doesn't look too bad against the felt, you can't really see all the imperfections. Not to mention, they are on the INSIDE of the pouch.

Have I mentioned that I'm kind of a makeup junkie?

I'm not completely happy with my sketchbook cover though I'm not sure why because I love both fabrics. I had a really hard time sewing straight lines (after I thought that was something I'd almost mastered). I think it's because Melissa had let me use her "good" machine earlier that day and I became spoiled. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm hoping to finish up a couple more projects tonight.

Oh, and tomorrow marks the first day of my birthday week. I'm thinking a free download and giveaway are on the way...

Both projects look great! I really love the fabric on the book cover, and I like that you added a zipper to the pouch! Great job!

(1) you've got benefit! i love their makeup, it's so natural looking. (2) where did you get that fabric for your sketchbook that looks like wood? i love it!

Thanks! The fabric is from Joel Dewberry's Aviary collection. Try searching Etsy and Ebay. I just bought some in pink on Etsy last week.

Haha, that's so funny you used the wood grain fabric! I fell in love with it from the sample and ordered some from Etsy.

I also ordered your V-day pattern. Making a pillow with it, hopefully I can get it finished today.

Guess we were meant to be Style buddies! :)

I just wanted to tell you that your blog is awesome. I love reading it and it always inspires me to get busy in my own craftiness. I just love your style and colorfulness! (if that's even a word!)
