summer is here

I made my Grams' favorite lemon-lime cake this weekend. As she would say, the cake is light and refreshing, the perfect cake for summer-time.

Grams' lemon-lime cake

Start with a box of lemon cake mix. Bake the cake according to instructions. Lemon cake mix can be hard to come by in some grocery stores so you might choose to bake one from scratch. Just bake the cake as normally directed, in a 9x13" pan.

After the cake is thoroughly cooled, prepare a large box of lime Jello as directed on the box. Use a knife to poke holes in the cake. Make sure the holes are evenly distributed — approximately 3/4" apart. Poor the prepared Jello evenly over the top of the cake so that it seeps into all of the holes. Now refrigerate the cake for several hours, until the cake is cooled and the Jello is set.

Now it's time for the frosting! Beat together 1 packet of Dream Whip, 1 small package of lemon pudding, and 1 cup of cold milk. After the mixture is light and creamy (the consistency of pudding) frost the cake. Keep the cake in the fridge and serve when ready.

I've also got a couple new embroidery projects in the works.

Oh deer!

love bus pillow

My to-do list for this week:
*Work on/ finish a couple of design projects
*Update the IndieSacramento blog & website
*Plan some craft classes (& kits!) for the IndieSacramento/ Craft University booth at the Sammies 2009/ Music Fest!
*Thrifting for records! If we will in fact have electricity at our Craft-U booth, I'm planning to teach people how to make their own record bowls. Make your own for only $5!
*Work on new (and old!) projects for Renegade. More jewelry. More painting. More stitching.
*Packing for Tahoe this weekend. it's going to be my 'lil sis' 21st birthday!

Stay tuned for some very special cupcakes.
