Grams' 7 Layer Cookies

This recipe comes from the kitchen of my Grams. These cookie bars are a real crowd pleaser (even with people who say they don't like coconut). They are a staple in my Christmas cookie baking marathon!

Grams' 7 Layer Cookies

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup butter, melted
2 cups butterscotch chips
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup flaked coconut
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (aka Eagle Brand Milk)
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 13x9" cake pan, assemble the ingredients in the order they are listed above. Begin by spreading the graham cracker crumbs to cover the bottom of the pan. Drizzle the melted butter over the crumbs until all of the crumbs are wet with butter. Begin sprinkling one layer of ingredients at a time. When you get to the sweetened condensed milk, drizzle the milk evenly over the the layers in a criss-cross pattern. Sprinkle on nuts. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bars are a nice golden brown color. Refrigerate overnight. Cut into bars and serve!

* These bars also freeze well.
