Up and Coming...

There are TWO hot spots to visit this coming Second Saturday:

I'll be vending here!

Park Your Art

Saturday, April 12th, 6-9pm
Park Your Art

McMartin Realty - 21st & K in Midtown Sacramento

Featuring amazing art from the Smith Gallery, an acoustic performance by the beautiful and talented SAMMIE winning Larisa Bryski, and our popular outdoor art show brings you up close to the creations of more than a dozen great local artists and crafspeople and gives you an opportunity to own their one-of-a-kind handmade works!

We'll also be raising funds for ECOS, the Environmental Council of Sacramento, so come help us celebrate the coming of spring! This event is FREE to attend and is open to art-lovers of all ages.

I'm hoping I still get a chance to stop by this one!

Taking Textiles Seriously

Taking Textiles Seriously Art Show

When: Saturday Apr 12, 2008 at 6:00 PM
Where: Side Show Studios Tattoo & Gallery
5635 Freeport Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95822

Side Show Studios will showcase artists who work in the amazing, but often underappreciated medium of textiles. A variety of textile works will be highlighted including feature cutting edge works of woven and knitted wears, yarn spinning, recyclable clothing, beaded art, art quilts and fabric wall hangings, hand-embroidery, felt creations, dolls and teddy bears, wearable art with live models and an interactive fashion show, fiber sculpture, hand-embroidery, and more! But be warned – this is not your grandmother's sewing circle! From functional to purely aesthetic, the textile art on hand will be very cutting edge!

Headlining artists include Dy of DyMa Creations, Krissi Sandvik of Arts by Krissi, and Evie Turner of Evie's Ark, All Things Animal. More than 25 artists from the Sacramento area and nationwide will be featured at this one-of-a-kind art show – including Cy of Side Show Studios, Yoli of Sacred Snatch, The Lone Beader, Puppy Bird, Claire Chambers of Absolutely Small, De-Kline to State Fashion & Design, Papermoonies, Amy, Kim Brownell, and my very own Mom!

Demonstrations of the unique textile techniques will be presented. I'm doing a cat toy making class at 6:30 pm. From my class, you'll leave with your own handmade plushies to take home to your pampered felines! Other demos will be taught by Krissi, Yoli and Kim B.

The Second Saturday Reception is open to the general public and is free of charge. Complimentary beverages, wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Come experience this unique gallery and original show!
